Back to work with a bang!

So here we are again – back to work after what has been a truly glorious Summer! And what a fabulous way to get started again.
Yesterday saw me back with Stoke-on-Trent City Council, delivering a shiny new course as part of our ongoing contract – ‘Building Trust’, a full day’s course all about Relationship-Based Working.
This course was created in conjunction with my fabulous friend and mentor, Steven Talbot, and focuses on something that sounds incredibly simple but is absolutely at the heart of working well with people – building relationships based on trust.
We had a full house of fourteen lovely delegates, all working within the Children’s Social Sector, and what a great bunch they were! Lots of discussion, lots of sharing experiences, plenty of thinking, and – as always – quite a lot of laughing along the way. Because, in my humble opinion, nobody ever said that learning has to be miserable.
The whole day was a total hit. Even better, I received 100% positive, glowing feedback from the delegates. Honestly, there is nothing quite like that feeling at the end of a full day’s training, knowing that people have enjoyed themselves, but more importantly, that they’re taking something useful away with them and back into their everyday practice.
It’s also rather lovely to see the Sarah Miller Training Consultancy continuing to grow. From those slightly terrifying early days of standing in front of my first group of delegates (and wondering what on earth I’d got myself into!), I’m now creating and delivering courses that I’m genuinely proud of – and still learning loads along the way.
No rest for the wicked, though!
Tomorrow I’m back online for the Insight Academy, delivering another of my courses, ‘Safeguarding the Hidden’. This one is all about looking beyond the obvious, recognising hidden risks and exploitation, and giving professionals the confidence to act when something just doesn’t feel quite right.
So, after a fabulous Summer, I think it’s fair to say we’re back with a bang.
New courses, lovely people, exciting projects and plenty more in the pipeline.
Roll on this quarter!
